People love the stereotype of old librarians with buns & the love of quiet places. I am totally fine with this stereotype. Sometimes I wear buns & sometimes I like to shush people. Apparently the general public doesn’t mind being shushed. IN FACT they need to be shushed. Here are things people want from their libraries.
1) Librarians to answer questions or give information
2) Borrowing books
3) Free access to computers & the internet
4) A QUIET SPACE TO WORK & STUDY
And that fourth one my friends is only ONE PERCENT behind free access to computers & the internet. If I didn’t work with kids (who are incapable of being quiet) I would go around shushing everyone saying, “You wanted this!”
