Book: The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle

Usually I would consider this book kind of long for 0-3s but our craft was Hungry Caterpillar related & I had fake fruit to roll out when he ate it in the book to keep their attention. I also brought out my finger butterfly at the end and they liked that. I also read it first so I knew they’d be more likely to listen to a longer-ish book.

Book: Garden Animals by Lucy Cousins

SONG

One little, two little, three little earthworms

Four little, five little, six little earthworms

Seven little, eight little, nine little earthworms

Ten little wiggly worms!

Ten little, nine little, eight little earthworms

Seven little, six little, five little earthworms

Four little, three little, two little earthworms

One little wiggly worm!

RHYME

See the wiggly wiggly worm? (wave index finger)

See it squiggle, squiggle & squirm? (wave finger in the air)

Over, under all around (wave around left hand)

Where’s the wiggly squiggly worm? (hide finger in left fist)

One, two, three – POP! (pop out worm)

Book: I like Bugs by Lorena Siminovich

SONG

(bring on the spider puppet!)

The eency weency spider went up the water spout

Down came the rain and washed the spider out

Out came the sun and dried up all the rain

And the eency weency spider went up the spout again.

RHYME

Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet eating some curds and whey

Along came a spider who sat down beside her

And frightened Miss Muffet away!

CLOSING SONG

(see previous weeks for words)

This is our lovely little Hungry Caterpillar handprint craft. Three prints in a row was much more difficult than our past one hand or one foot. But they turned out cute cute cute!
