Flora & Ulysses

I read this book awhile ago but never posted (I think.. If I did, I can’t find it). It just won the Newbery award so I figured I should write about it!

I remember thinking it was very odd. Kind of like the show Monk. This is what I wrote about it on Goodreads.

“Not my favorite of Ms DiCamillo. Cute but weird. Quirky. Almost stopped reading it after a bit.”

It’s about a girl who makes friends with a magical squirrel who got that way because he got caught up in a vacuum cleaner. I mean.. weird right? There are some heavy subjects like abandonment and divorce. I mean.. I don’t know what it was up against but I can say that it’s not in the same realm as other Newbery books I’ve read.
