Elvis Presley’s Library Card

Hey parents! Get your kid a library card when they’re young. The first known signature of Elvis Presley goes up for auction next month. Guess where? On his Mississippi library card! That’s right. If your kids ever get famous you could sell their library card autograph.

Summer Storytime: Human Body 3+

HUMAN BODY

OPENING SONG

This is the way we start the day,

Start the day, start the day.

This the way we start the day,

So early in the morning.

First we smile and shake a hand,

Shake a hand, shake a hand

First we smile and shake a hand

So early in the morning.

Hop, Hop, Jump by Lauren Thompson

The craft today was a bit long. So we only read two books. We put body parts on a piece of construction paper that they put over their head to show their insides. Kind of like this but not on a paper bag. I got the organ printables from this site.

Summer Storytime: Gardening 3+

Older kids can sit for stories with plots, love! I read one of my most favoritest books ever for my first big kid storytime.

OPENING SONG

This is the way we start the day,

Start the day, start the day.

This the way we start the day,

So early in the morning.

First we smile and shake a hand,

Shake a hand, shake a hand.

First we smile and shake a hand,

So early in the morning.

The Curious Garden by Peter Brown

SONG

(Tune: Farmer in the Dell)

First we’ll turn the soil, first we’ll turn the soil

Hi-ho the derry-o, the garden in the yard.

(dig with hands)

Then we’ll dig a hole, then we’ll dig a hole

Hi-ho the derry-o, the garden in the yard.

(plant in front)

Next we’ll plant the seeds, next we’ll plant the seeds

Hi-ho the derry-o, the garden in the yard.

(hand over hand)

We’ll cover them with dirt, we’ll cover them with dirt

Hi-ho the derry-o, the garden in the yard.

(watering can)

The rain falls gently down, the rain falls gently down

Hi-ho the derry-o, the garden in the yard.

(wiggle fingers to the ceiling)

Soon the plants will grow, soon the plants will grow

Hi-ho the derry-o, the garden in the yard.

BOOK

Rooting for You by Susan Hood

After this book I showed them the flower we were going to make for our craft since this book ends on a pretty cute flower page. Since they were very excited for that, we finished on an action book.

Up Down & Around by Katherine Ayers

We stood up, sat down & spun in a circle whenever I said those words.

CRAFT

I had much better petal templates than this but it was my jumping off point. We did also put the sunflower seeds in the middle for some fun texture.
